Belgaer is the fifth of the Nine Bright Shiners. In The Beginning, Belgaer became part of the Charter. As a bell, Belgaer is the Thinker, who allows independent thought for the dead, or erases memories. It was wielded by Sameth at the binding of Orannis.
Bell Sound[]
Belgaer is a loud bell, sounding one bright, clear note that can be felt in the bones of the head clear into the brain.[1]
Trivia[]
- Belgaer is only used twice in the series, save at the binding of Orannis: first by Sabriel upon Yrael after their victory, to restore his entire self and grant him freedom; and second in Death by Lirael upon "Clariel," the fragment of Chlorr of the Mask's spirit.
- Belgaer is the bell most scorned by necromancers.
